Membership is open for 2024. Cabra Kayak Club activities include whitewater kayaking, freestyle kayaking, training for competitions.

If you want to join Cabra Kayak Club then please check below to find out what applies to you. We are primarily a whitewater kayaking club. We run training courses at the clubs base on the Royal Canal. We don't use the canal weekly, our trips are on Irish rivers and members will need to be able to get to these locations usually in their own car. If your not sure if this is for you, email us with any questions before attempting to join.

Option 1: Never Kayaked before or tried it a few times

If you have never tried kayaking or maybe tried a few times and would like to learn more, then our club is perfect for you but only between April - September. We do not work with beginners in Autumn/ Winter months. Any members will be training to take on whitewater kayaking, please be sure this is for you

Step 1: Contact us by email on cabrakayakers@gmail.com, we will let you know when you can come down to try out kayaking

Step 2: Come down to one of our open days to try the activity 

Step 3: Book into a Level 1 or 2 Kayak Skills Course if you liked the try out day

Step 4: Join the club by paying membership fee and completing membership application form

Step 5: Your a member, have fun in paddlesports

Option 2: Have previous kayaking experience and certificate from Canoeing Ireland

If you have completed a certified level 2 kayak skills training course with a private provider or with canoeing Ireland, you can show us your cert and join us on the canal for a welcome session. This is not limited to April - Sept

Step 1: Contact us by email on cabrakayakers@gmail.com, we will send you the membership form

Step 2: Complete membership form and pay membership fee

Step 3: Your a member, come and enjoy paddlesports

Option 3: I am a member of another club

If you would like to transfer to Cabra Kayak Club and have a level 2 Kayak Skills certificate course completed, then contact us and we will send you information on joining. 

Club Membership fees:

Cabra Kayak Club membership runs annually from January 1st - December 31st 

The membership fee covers club membership, access to club equipment, access to weekly training sessions and trips, insurance and membership to Canoeing Ireland

Fees:

Adult Member - 100euro annually

Junior Member - 80euro annually

Once you have paid membership fees, the only other fees you may pay are a 5euro sub when attending activities. You will also need to pay for training courses if interested in progressing your skills through the Canoeing Ireland Award Scheme.
